We’ve known Dan Patlak a long time; in fact, though he was living in Niles when we first met him and is now living in Wheeling, he has been a member of our Club for many years.
Dan is a strong Republican and in 2010 took back a seat the Democrats were holding on the County Board of Review, which hears property tax assessment appeals. His election was the first time a Republican defeated a sitting Democratic Cook County official in 15 years. Elected from Dist. 1, Dan represents virtually the entire Cook County suburban area, yet he often spends time with us at our meetings and, whenever invited, presents taxpayer education workshops hosted by our Club and various civic organizations throughout his far-flung district.
Dan began his career as a real estate broker, is a graduate of the Real Estate Institute and is a Certified Illinois Assessing Officer, key credentials for an assessment review official. He worked with the late Maureen Murphy at the Board of Review from 1999 through 2006.
He was an elected member of the East Maine School Dist. 63 board of education in the mid-90s and later was elected Assessor of Wheeling Township.
Dan is active in the National Taxpayers Union and the Knights of Columbus, attends St. Joseph the Worker Church and lives in Wheeling with his wife Dulce and their son Teddy.
He is opposed in the primary by the same ex-Democrat whom he defeated in the GOP primary two years ago.
