How do I file an appeal at the County Assessor’s office and at the Board of Review?

You can file an appeal with the Assessor's office by going to their web site at www.cookcountyassessor.com.  You can also file a paper appeal.  The form can be found on the Assessor's web site.  Just fill it out and mail it back to the Assessor at 118 N.Clark, Chicago, IL 60602.

You can file an appeal with the Board of Review by going to their web site at www.cookcountyboardofreview.com.  Click on "File an Appeal" and you will be taken to an appeal portal.  Go to the upper left hand corner of the page and click on "Login/Register".  You will then be able to register a permanent account for you and your property.  After you file on-line, you will receive an e-mail confirming your appeal and assigning your complaint number.  You may upload your evidence electronically into the account you have created or you may mail your paper evidence back to us at the Board.  You must have an e-mail address in order to file on-line.  To file a paper appeal form, go to the Board's web site to print a appeal form.  Fill it out and mail it back to the Board of Review at 118 N. Clark 6th floor, Chicago, IL 60602 before the filing deadline.  All evidence for paper appeals must be mailed or delivered to the Board and cannot be filed electronically.
